Dr Elizabeth Caruana Galizia is a Clinical Neurologist with a busy General Neurology in-patient and out-patient practice.
Dr Caruana Galizia studied medicine and completed her early medical training in Malta before moving to the UK where she entered the neurology training program in 2007.
Dr Caruana Galizia completed her PhD at UCL, where she developed her interest in epilepsy genetics and pharmacogenetics. She has been a consultant since 2017 working as a neurologist and epilepsy specialist at St George’s Hospital.
She assesses patients with a range of neurological problems, though her main areas of expertise are in epilepsy and autoimmune encephalitis, and her clinical practice includes the assessment and treatment of in-patients and out-patients with loss of consciousness, first seizure, complex epilepsy, epilepsy surgery, and suspected/confirmed autoimmune encephalitis.
Her general neurology practice encompasses the assessment, investigation, diagnosis and management of all acute and chronic disorders of the central and peripheral nervous system.
Dr Caruana Galizia is lead for clinical trials in epilepsy at St George’s hospital. She has completed the Bond Solon training in expert report writing.
Dr Caruana Galizia prepares reports relating to Civil claims (clinical negligence and personal injury), Family Court cases and Criminal cases.
