Dr Patel is an experienced neurologist and stroke physician, specialising in a range of neurological disorders, especially complex stroke and headaches.
Dr Patel is on an on-call rota for acute Neurology and Stroke including being responsible for thrombolysis and thrombectomy pathway decisions.
After having trained at The National Neurology and Neurosurgery Hospital gaining experience in specialist headache management, Dr Patel has now joined, and now leads, the headache team at St George’s, seeing patients with complex migraine and other headache disorders.
She has a 2 clinics per week dedicated to headache patients.
She also is the lead for acute neurology encompassing the assessment, investigation, diagnosis and management of all acute and chronic disorders of the central and peripheral nervous system as they present to hospital. This includes providing care to acutely unwell patients with neurological conditions including, epilepsy, encephalitis, MS, Guillain Barre and Myasthenia Gravis.
Dr Patel is the Clinical Research Lead, supporting research work across neurology including motor neuron disease and Huntingdon’s disease.
Dr Patel has completed Bond Solon training on acting as an expert witness. Dr Patel prepares approximately 60-80 reports annually relating to Civil claims (clinical negligence and personal injury), Family Court cases and occasional Criminal cases.
