Dr Galtrey is a Consultant Neurologist with over 5 years’ experience in a busy general neurology practice.
She has completed Bond Solon training on Excellence in Report Writing.
She graduated from the University of Cambridge Medical School prestigious MB/PhD programme with a combined MB BChir (Distinction) and PhD in neuroscience and First Class degree in Pharmacology.
Following graduation, she trained in general medicine at Kings College Hospital in London, Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge and Royal Surrey County Hospital and completed her Neurology training in London at The Atkinson Morley Regional Neurosciences Centre at St George’s University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
She became of Member of the Royal College of Physicians in 2017 and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2021.
She was appointed as a Consultant Neurologist at Frimley Park Hospital and St Georges Hospital in 2017. At Frimley Park Hospital, she had an extremely busy and wide ranging general neurology practice with weekly general neurology clinics, weekly acute neurology ward referrals and emergency neurology clinics and was a consultant on the acute stroke rota involved in hyper-acute stroke treatment decisions.
She provided a weekly specialist epilepsy clinic and developed a monthly specialist motor neurone disease clinic.
At St Georges Hospital, her specialist area of clinical practice is in neuromuscular disorders and particularly conditions affecting the motor nerve such as Motor Neurone Disease and Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Since 2020, she has run the Regional Spinal Muscular Atrophy service within the Neuromuscular Service and is particularly interested in new and emerging treatments for genetic neuromuscular disorders. In January 2023 she moved to work at St Georges to focus on developing these services further continuing general neurology practice attending on the Regional Neurosciences ward and as part of the on-call system for acute and tertiary neurology in a large and busy neurosciences centre.
