Dr Peter Jenkins is a Neurology Consultant with an expertise in acquired brain injury. He is a founder member of the Association of British Neurologists (ABN) Traumatic Brain Injury Specialist Interest Group and a current member of the ABN Traumatic Brain Injury Advisory Group. He is the primary author of the Optimum Pathway for TBI management in the UK for the National Neurosciences Advisory Group, published January 2023.
He does 3 general neurology clinics a week and reviews patients admitted to hospital with neurological conditions on a weekly basis.
He is a member of the regional traumatic brain injury team at University Hospitals Southampton, runs a weekly specialist traumatic brain injury clinic and a hypoxic-ischaemic brain injury multi-disciplinary team.
He has undertaken expert witness work since 2019. He has completed over 500 expert witness reports. He has completed the Bond Solon Excellence in Written Evidence course, the Introduction to Civil Procedure Rules course, the Clinical Negligence Essentials course Parts 1 and 2, Courtroom Skills and Cross Examination Day.
He has a PhD in Neuroscience from Imperial College, London. He researched the use of advanced imaging techniques in traumatic brain injury and led a clinical trial for the treatment of post-traumatic brain injury impairments. He has published widely in the field of traumatic brain injury and general neurology and written a general interest self-help book for people who have suffered a previous head injury. He has presented on the topic of traumatic brain injury at numerous National and International Conferences including the Association of British Neurologists Annual Meeting, the World Congress on Brain Injury, the Society for Neuroscience Annual Meeting, the American Association of Neurologists and Frontiers in Traumatic Brain Injury.
